A deliberately ambiguous title to this mix! Sorry hip-hop aficionados if you expected Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli, that’s a different mix. This is Jazz! A lot of the artists on this musical journey are Black Star’s - shooting stars in the firmament of jazz. Anyways, don’t let me interpret the inference for you, make your own mind up.

Actually the tablet sound is quite good, much better than on my portable PC. I used to listen to broadcasts from the old Half Note on Hudson with Alan Grant in NY on an old transistor radio with a mono earphone late a night back in the day. I remember that sound well!
very nicely done (listened on the tablet at breakfast w/o logging in, sorry). Cheers, DrJ
Dr J, I used to listen to jazz on an old AM transistor radio! I wonder how a tablet compares? Thanks for listening.
Great stuff !!!
Thanks Jazzcat. Appreciate your comment!
Really loved all this, apart from the Lamont Johnson track, which I found WAYYYY to schmooove for my ears.
All the rest was right on the money tho for me : )
Yeah! I know you don’t like jazz-funk! But, Lamont Johnson has a prestigious history as a keyboard sideman. This one might be more to your liking: http://youtu.be/j40Oy9kGxEU
