In the early 1850s, my 2nd great grand uncle Timothy emigrated to New Zealand and settled in Papanui on the southern island. He was part of a church group, so I imagine the music he listened was predominantly hymns. If he’d travelled 160 years later, he’d have been getting down to Fat Freddy’s Drop and watching Flight of the Conchords. Anyways, as a tribute to all my Kiwi relatives and their neighbours in Australasia, I have curated a mix of jazz from the Antipodes. I am by no means an expert on jazz from down-under, but I am representing music I like. If any Kiwi’s or Aussies are listening and can suggest any artists to check out in the future, let me know. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the mix.

This is so insanely good........! Had me jumping out of my chair. 5 STARS!!! The BEST jazz cloudcast I've heard in 2014 to date. WOW! That's all I can say. Everyone should dig into this, especially since these artists are not the high profile ones, at least in the states.
Thanks Dr J - I had to dig deep to find some of those artists. I try to give coverage to some of the lesser known musicians in jazz. Careful jumping’ outta that chair - if I do that I usually strain something!
