dancing by myself

The blue light was studio 54. Ken Swift was God. A 16th generation beat street tape changed my life. A 16 bar loop on 8th wonder broke my rewind button. I dubbed over 36th chambers with 5th dimension. I pushed the couch into the kitchen and rolled my cardboard out like it opened a worm hole. Like if I spun fast enough I’d rip a hole in space time.

The cool kids were finger fucking rich girls at Adam Sandler movies. I was painting the stripe on my pumas listening to my parents records. I was the kid with a skateboard helmet who couldn’t skate. The nerd disguised as a ninja. Who was only cool talent quest night. Who thought ecstasy was an ohio players song. I was the dude who missed rugby practice cause he wanted to dance.

Now I’m the dude dancing by himself while the cool kids are smoking on the balcony. I’m still digging through my parents records trynna find something that can beat that first time I heard those records. This is some of the stuff that still makes me feel that way
