Whilst studying medicine at the University of the West Indies, Rochelle Smith contracted encephalitis- an illness which left her in a coma for 2 1/2 weeks and having to relearn how to read, walk and talk.
She is now a qualified doctor and has been honored for her academic achievements by her university and wants to spread awareness of the illness
