Hello world.

Music - and dance music in particular - has always been a big part of my life. As a kid i fell in love with Modern Talking, Pet Shop Boys, Eurythmics, and later lots of various italo-house acts. I spent hours at raves before house/techno went mainstream, and always felt at home, in the company of other dance music lovers, both many years ago, and more recently on my trips to the holy land of Ibiza.

Yet, I never really took on "music" as a dedicated hobby or a career path. I've been attracted to, and had lots of great times and success with lots of other things, but admittedly always looked in envy at those who had the guts to dedicate their time to one of those most basic joys of life - Music.

But sometimes, life takes a turn. And sometimes, you just wake up realizing you need to shake things up.

That happened to me. I'm 49. Now I want to be a DJ :)

You can absolutely argue that it could be difficult to bring anything new to the (turn)table when everyone else, who also wants to DJ, has 20 years experience. And you could argue that in any field, there's always the delusional newbie who wants to be but clearly hasn't got "the skillz". If we're talking technical skills, sure, mine are absolutely lacking.

But what defines a "good" DJ? Is it how fast you are on the deck? Is it how well you throw cake?

To me, it's selection. Personally, I have almost never been at any event where the technical skills of the DJ had any effect to how mood in the crowd. But the right tunes, a good mix of bangers, that's what makes the dancefloor hot. Play great music. That's it.

That's where I want to go, and what I want to do.
