The mix I would have done on college radio decades ago if I could have. 2 hours and 52 tracks of Ambient, Free/Spiritual Jazz, soulful strutting and random vibes, plus unsolicited commentary from a star-studded cast. In these Covid days doing deep digital digging for your aural excitement.
Tracklist
Playing tracks by Four Tet, Roy Masters, La Monte Young, Randy Weston, Coyle & Sharpe and more.

I really needed this one this morning. This feels like healing...and the reminder that it's a gradual process. A sonic pat on the shoulder one year into the never-ending interim that is being together apart. Embedded within these grooves is a simple message: "You're gonna be okay." I'd like to think so, anyway.
This Downshifting series is a beautiful thing.
Thank you Jason. I think the main point is giving oneself freedom to explore, even if I've chosen a certain set of themes. It's way to build bridges across time and genre. The narrators help guide us through it. I really need to also credit the Solid Steel series, where djs like DJ Food, DK, Coldcut and many guests would put intense effort and craft into beautiful densely layered mixes. Always thought of that as the gold standard.
then again, those mixes were just extensions of album and single work done by Prince Paul, The Dust Brothers, Grandmaster Flash, Double Dee & Steinski....
