Gethsemane

Gerard Brophy is an Australian composer who has created large-scale orchestral works and a wide array of chamber and solo works. In order to create the work Gethsemane, he turned to India and specifically, to Calcutta. As a result, he has created a work that draws on his observations and the Christian Bible, to explore the contemporary lives of the homeless, the abandoned and the dying against a backdrop of Eastern spirituality.
