At one point while I was making this, at my home in Berlin, I got an image in my head of Arthur Russell wandering around New York at night listening to his Walkman. This is not necessarily a solitary image. I see it more as someone (us?) giving themselves over to the mysteries and dangers and thrills of the night: illicit, evasive, open, innocent...somewhere all this is happening.
JOY RIDE is a mix series exploring the past, present and future of club music. It is a space that welcomes you in all your particularity, vulnerabilities and powers. Wherever you are. However you express your soul. This is your beat. Here is your dance. Take it for a spin.
