Sermon: I believe

What if someone asked you, what do you believe? You might say well I believe the Bible. Ok good! We believe that God inspired the sixty six books that make up the old and new testaments. That’s a great thing. However the Bible is a big book in often small print! We just took almost 8 ½ months to walk through just the first book of the Bible Genesis. So if you were to distill down scripture to it’s very basic essence yet still hold the vastness of God’s truth in it what would you come up with?
Well Christians have done this. They did it as early back at AD 140. We call them creeds. We get the word creed from the Latin word Credo meaning at it’s root “I believe”. It’s a statement of what we believe as a people, as a church, and as God's faithful worshipers.  Over the next few weeks we’re going to focus in on one of these called the Apostles Creed and use that as a blueprint to walk us through some powerful aspects of our faith.
