This month Soulbrew presents Jay Hurry. Here's the bio!

I started collecting records at the age of 7 (the truth is I stole my dad’s records to play on my Fisher Price record player). Through my early teens I listened Iron Maiden and Kiss, later on I discovered Hip Hop. Wanting to learn more about where the samples on the tracks came from I started buying jazz, funk and soul records.
Then started my long and very patchy DJ career; my first real gig was at ‘Mo’Wax Please’ in Oxford covering for James Lavelle with my DJ partner Tim Goldsworthy (who later formed DFA). For a while I ran my own club night Shady Brain Farm in London which then led to long residencies at The Medicine Bar and The Embassy.
Now I’m a presenter on RTRFM (in Western Australia) sometimes on the Soulsides and monthly on Snooze Button where I play new music ranging from Reggae music made in Scotland, house music from Ethiopia and anything in-between. But I’m still an avid funk and soul record collector….
