The play covers the last two years in the life of William Tyndale. It is set in Antwerp, where he was living in self-imposed exile (because it was heresy to translate the Bible into English at that time ) and working on a new translation of the New Testament as well as books of the Old Testament.
The plot covers his move to the English House, his entrapment, arrest by the Imperial "Police" of Charles V, his interrogation and eventual execution.
