This is part of a series of mixtapes that I made in the early 2000s. I just found all of the most beautiful music I could think of, threw it together, and ended up distributing them a lot to friends and prospective romantic interests. So, if you're *not* already a fan of ambient or electronic music, this is a great intro to the genre, of stuff that you might love but have just never even heard of. Ambient/electronic crossover, at it were. Anyway, they all have Elvish names. So this was the fifth one, "Isildë" (meaning "Starlight"). I think the most mentionable track here is Banco de Gaia's "Shanti." He ended up becoming very popular, and released many remixes of this song, but imo none of them hold a candle to the original, which is effectively hidden on a really obscure compilation. So, if you like BdG, check it out. Anyway, this particular mixtape ended up focusing on the "ethno-ambient" subgenre, which is a welcome counterpoint to the more prevalent "psybient" subgenre.
