I’ve booked the magic carpet to revisit this superb film music festival, great to hear Betty Grable again, we need the likes of her today more than ever to divert us from so horrific headlines. Have to say again, the music from “The Thief of Baghdad is sumptuous. A while ago i was fortunate enough to be given the book “A Life in Movies” written by Michael Powell, it’s a super read, Michael informs us of his involvement in the making of “The Thief of Baghdad” (and all his films including his association with composers)

Very nice (very short) tribute to the wonderfull Betty Grable , her films are pure escapism, entertaining and great fun. Her song and dance routines really lift the spirits. Great to hear Mario Lanza singing a song from “The Desert Song”. May I recommend to all soundtrack listeners the 1943 Version starring Dennis Morgan. Also Jerry Goldsmith, Michael J. Lewis, Victor Young and of course Miklos Rosza, I was lucky enough to receive as an Xmas gift his “Thief of Baghdad” it’s a JOY.
