Sam Barker asks more from techno. The artist known as Barker is one of electronic music's most curious producers, challenging listeners to rethink norms—whether it's the music, its process, or the space it fills.

British-born but based in Berlin since 2007, Barker forged ties with Ostgut Ton, carving out a singular path on the club and label’s roster. Never one for orthodoxy, he challenged techno’s four-to-the-floor framework in favor of melodic experimentation, stripping away kick drums and claps for immersive, weightless sound.

Six years after Utility, his sophomore album Stochastic Drift delves deeper into harmonic twists. “The only thing you can do is embrace uncertainty,” he wrote.

His RA Podcast follows suit: a collage of live recordings radiating wide-eyed optimism. An hour of music for contemplation, euphoria, or epiphany.
