Do It Yourself Modeling 2004

Do It Yourself Modeling 2004

Playing tracks by

Superbreak, Cassius, Roots Manuva and Prefuse 73.

Chart positions

This show was 3rd in the global new wave chart, 5th in the global indie chart, 6th in the global eclectic chart, 13th in the global rock chart and 30th in the global electronica chart.

Circa 20 years ago, and before on demand music streaming, I’d regularly pump out mix CDs to take with me on the go. I’d grab just under 80 minutes of whichever tracks I was obsessed with that week, and sort out the order and flow after, rarely with a theme. Most were lost as scratched up CD-Rs in a glove compartment or backpack, but some came together nicely, got cover art, and stuck around a while. A few really stood the test of time (for me at least), and I return to listen to them years later - here’s one*. Hope you enjoy this snapshot of what I had on repeat 17 years ago, and still do today, apparently.

This mix was a great companion on my walk in the park today. That would also be the perfect soundtrack for a road trip, as I imagine.
Loved the Indie selection, some interesting new stuff for me. And what a nice flow, too.
Just great!

This mix was specially curated to be played on a discman hooked up to a car stereo with one of those cassette adapters, so I do trust that you are experiencing it in that form - I know you and I are true audio sophisticates who would not do otherwise.

I am afraid we share the same broken time piece. I too like to pretend everything went down 5 mins ago AKA 10, 20, 30, 40... yrs ago. "Just yesterday" I used burn through Hollywood in my dad's yellow LTD ( :
Enjoying shiz out of this mixtape! Rage on brother.. music and good times never really grow old!

So glad to hear I’m not the only one to feel unstuck in time - and that you’re enjoying this personal throwback of mine! So much of the timeline of my life is rooted in what music I was listening to when, and in what format I was listening to it at the time. Yes, just yesterday, but so far away at the same time…

...brother I am not convinced we (humans) truly understand the true nature of time. But I do know that few things connect us to the 'here and then' like music. I too reference every bit of life through the magic of music. H.G. Wells & Dr. Emmett Brown had it all wrong.. no fancy time machine require.. just hit PLAY.. ZOOM ZOOM.. and we're back! Super fun stuff here.. every bit of it. Cheers buddy!
