Starting School

I remember when my boys started school. When each of them was old enough, we signed them up, bought school supplies, and walked them to their classroom door. I’m not sure who was more nervous, them or their mother and me. The school and the other kids seemed so big, and our boys seemed so small. But we knew they were ready to learn and grow, both about the world and about themselves. Sure enough, they came home with pictures, worksheet, and stories about all they learned that day in school. Granted, as they grew, they didn’t always like school, especially homework, but they continued to grow in strength and knowledge. Soon, they seemed to know even more than we did – or at least they thought so.
