Developing Relationships

You might say, “I know I’m supposed to share the Good News of Christ with those around me, but how do I begin?” It’s easy: just start making friends. Start developing relationships with those you come in contact with, showing them the compassion and love of God. Begin with your interests and community. If you’re interested in sports, join a summer softball league. If you’re in a carpool, talk with the others in the car about more than just work. If you go to a community event, get to know the organizers or other attendees. Work to become a trusted friend of those in your community and other spheres of influence. Ask questions to show that you genuinely care about people – and listen to what they say.  
Not everyone is called to be an evangelist, but everyone is called to minister to others. I think of my father-in-law, a wonderful quiet man. I couldn’t imagine him saying more than a couple of sentences trying to witness to others. But he had such a deep burden for his old college budd
