Virtual reality set to get more real

00:00

A team of computer scientists at Victoria University in Wellington think they may be a step closer to making virtual reality more real. And they're about to demo the technology to the world at a big VR conference in the US, and at a workshop at Te Papa this weekend. The team thinks the solution is to deliver a frame rate of 90 frames per second to each eye, using an algorithm that cuts down on data requirements by stripping out information that we can't perceive. We get a demo of the technology from Taehyun Rhee and his team from the School of Engineering and Computer Science at Victoria University.
