At two o'clock this afternoon the Reserve Bank will be releasing a statement about the official cash rate, which is expected to rise by half a percent. Independent economist, Tony Alexander talks to Wallace about why the bank probably wants to increase the rate and how that will impact mortgage holders and the wider economy.
