The man in the picture above is a fellow named Wolfman Jack, a Radio DJ who played great soul music across the United States for most of the 1960s. His broadcasting studio was in Mexico, where the signal could be heard across much of the North American continent. He made his living selling all kinds of oddball stuff in between records. As a teenager, I loved listening to him, not only for the music but for his powerful magnetic and crazy personality. He struck a chord in me then and taught me how powerful music and voice and sound could be. Now I am far from being the personality of Wolfman Jack, but I do understand the power of music and how it affects your soul and inner life.

Which brings me to my radio show, Quietmusic.

I've been producing Quietmusic since 1994, when it first appeared as a Sunday Morning feature on KYOT-FM in Phoenix, AZ. The program was then syndicated across North America between 2000-2009 and appeared weekly on over 100 radio stations. Since 2009 I've been producing the show here on Mixcloud. What you hear from my mixes each week come directly from someone who has listened a lot and who has done the work.

Quietmusic is a listener-supported effort. There are no commercials, and there are no algorithms. If you listen to my free musical segments each week, I think you understand that there is value in it.

Being a subscriber for $5/month is a pretty good deal, considering you get to hear the entire three-hour program each week. And these days, with everything increasing in price, $5 doesn't get you much. But it gets you this.

And if you don't want to subscribe but still listen and value the programming, Mixcloud gives you the ability to give a one-time offering, a Tip to the DJ. Any amount is much appreciated.

Hope you enjoy this week's edition of Quietmusic. Thanks for listening and supporting the program.

I’m truly amazed every time I listen to what you share Nick. What I appreciate is the variety of sounds, styles, genres you let us discover. What can be more enriching than exposing yourself to the world’s best.
Thank you.

Nick i have been listening to you for a good long while now, and i really appreciate you putting out this post. It's a great reminder of how complacent we can become about what we give and especially what we take in this world. I used to be a subscriber, became a senior with limited income and regretfully had to make the decision to stop as money has been so tight. But now and then, a little extra does come in and I will now make sure to share what I can with you. I am never satisfied with any of the streaming apps ...they don't get me, and weird shit keeps finding its way in there! ha! I can however, always rely on some good listening whenever I tune into your weekly releases...even if they have only been an hour. I have Many fave sessions, that i come back to time and again. I'll pop over to make a donation now, and will be back to do so again when I can. Just know that I am immensely grateful for you and the effort you make to keep looking after our inner mojo. It's a rare thing these days, and you are gifted.! Much love beautiful human.
