By 1977 disco aficionados were looking for a new sound. Giorgio Moroder and Donna Summer provided it, marrying Kraftwerk-esque electronic sounds to the throbbing disco beat and infusing it all with sexual energy.
This mix attempts to showcase how some of that restless energy bubbled over into the mainstream, influencing both nightclub and popular music to this day.
R.I.P. Donna Summer.
p.s. 'Shame' and 'Southern Freeez' don't really fit into Hi-NRG etc. but I love them so they got played.
