It all started with house music. Classic. House. Music. That groovy 4/4 beat. This mixtape reflects the roots of (+)NE. While my friends were spinning hip hop, trance, reggae, breakbeats, 2-step, trip hop, and jungle aka drum n bass, I was absorbed in classic house music. Not that I wasn't a fan of the previously mentioned styles of music. If there was some hard ragga/hip hop jungle on the roof deck, I was THERE! As a dj though, it was the instrumentation of it that grabbed me and my unwillingness to bend to electronic music trends. Eventually I did break out and even moved into really dark german electro...and some 2-step...and some jungle (never could get the hang of hip hop...BPMs were too slow). While I wish I could actually dig in my crates and do an old school set on a real pair of Techniques, the decks and mixer have long been sold and the vinyl given away to some other guy that hopefully finds some joy in my dusty milk crates.
