Inspired by isolation, this selection includes groups from or on the edge of the deserts of the U.S.A.
* Disclaimer. I struggle to have any knowledge of any decent doo-wop from the Great Basin desert area. Utah is fairly dry in general when it comes to doo-wop, as far as I can tell. The Mojave, Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts are covered.
Bootlegged a little R. Crumb character for the art.
Featuring:
Phoenix, AZ - Little Worley and The Drops AKA Eddie and Ernie, The Versales, The Torquays, The Tads, The Vice-Roys, David Moore, The Versatiles AKA The Four Dimensions, The Traditions and The Servicemen (Luke Air Force Base west of Phoenix, AZ)
Albuquerque, NM - The Mandells (not to be confused with late 60s group, The Mandells of Chicago)
Odessa, TX - The Velvets
San Bernardino, CA - The Pentagons, The Ripples, The Jewels, The Du Vons
In a fitting way to end the show, I've included Nolan Strong & The Diablos of Detroit. Not near the desert but a desert-themed song.
