Love the show but Heron & Crane's Surf Trials just sounds like a cover of Eat Lights Become Lights' Test Drive off of their 2011 album Autopia. Still like it though.

Thanks as always for listening, Gary.I didn't know the ELBL track and have just listened. Interesting. They sound very different to me despite the similarities (guitar and synth use). I can certainly imagine a segue but "Just sounds like a cover" seems quite wrong. I hear other influences at work... and um, it's a different tune!

Sorry. Lazy (and uncalled for) phrasing. I certainly didn't mean "just sounds like a cover version". Harsh and unfair phrasing. My brain, with all it's faults, still hears a common thread. I am not suggesting anything like plagiarism just that there seems to be some kind of aural connect for me.

Phantom Circuit

Replying to your follow-up (I think I'll drop a line to Mixcloud suggesting better threading!). Yes, I can hear why you make the comparison. It's often a mystery about whether one band heard some other band or whether they just had influences in common or indeed none of the above... These are questions which fit right into that edition of the show. :)

(Oh, comments all appear in date order anyway. 👍 )

Great show! And thanks for including the Heron & Crane tune!

Phantom Circuit

I'm glad you enjoyed it - and it wouldn't have been the same without Heron & Crane!

Kites and Pylons Radio Show

Another good one! Nice to hear Heron and Crane-playing them on my own show soon. Thanks for an enjoyable programme.

Phantom Circuit

Yes, how could you not include them? :) Thanks!
