It's a treat, Papa! the slowed down tempos invite a more calm listening experience, better appreciating the detail. Also, I love these experiments like the one you mention with the Harold Faltemeyer record. With the digital age you can play by stretching the pitches more without changing tonalities, etc... Cheers!
cheers Ben! really chuffed that you enjoyed this.
'dub mango one' happened because of an accident when I began a recorded jam session, but it instantly transported me back to being a kid and listening to 80's pop 12" 'dance/club remix' records at the slower 33 rpm speed, making space between the beats and highlighting reverb and, as you say, detail... so, a type of dubby feel.
lucc bizon has 'challenged' me to include Faltermeyer's Axel F in the next one - I will do (may have to turn pitch lock 100% off for that authentic feel! 😳😂).
hope all is well there, P🙏🍷
I love the whole album and didn't check the last one me too :)
me too (x2). his bio on discogs is a little mysterious/intriguing - https://www.discogs.com/artist/17217-Shinichi-Atobe
Ooh Shinichi Atobe! simplicity and at the same time refinement in the sound, or how to get lost in a kind of continuous loop and be amazed!
in 2001 he released an album on Bassic Channel's Chain Reaction label and then was absent until a decade later, Demdike Stare and some others had a lot to do with the fact that we now have so many sublime albums!
true
Cool to find Lake 2 very fine track gem among gems. Brilliant and super creative different dub vibez, much enjoyed from wall to wall. Hats off.
super pleased you enjoyed Attila; very much obliged.
yes, Shinichi Atobe is amazing - Lake 2 is from his album 'Yes'; strongly recommended stuff (...have seen he did an album this year also, but not heard it yet...).
hope all is well there / cheers! papa🙏🙏
This set is going to cost me a fortune on Bandcamp.
Thank you!
the cost of listening crisis is a bummer sometimes! 🤣 ...bear in mind a lot of the tracks here were played much slower than their original bpm.
thanks so much for listening and go well there (am looking forward to checking your latest). P🥭🙏
...and where is that Axel F, pal? I want it in the mix next time!
ha ha 🤣. let's see what I can arrange...
Lone rework of BoC catch me the most. That melody is like a hook for memory, isn't it?
hi Lucc and thank you for dipping in.
yes, that track is a classic (as are many BoC pieces). 'hook for memory' is a great phrase to use - their music/melodies are so very capable of transporting the listener away to somewhere else... cheers, papa🙏😊
Very Impressive Melodies ... Great Job Papa
high praise Piotr!! glad you liked and go well there, papa🥭🙏
Really good set P! I listened start of the week but am just getting chance to mention, has been a busy one. As someone not too familiar with this genre, it was great to have it showcased by someone as competent as yourself. Loved that version of Roygbiv (or just you slowing it down) and the track at 40minsish with the French (perhaps) vocals on it? All steady tracks efficiently mixed, nice one! Hope all is well in Durzledon! 🪩
very generous LOFTY! always appreciate your loop-closing & thoughts🙏
telling truth, most of these tracks (other than a couple...) were played at quite a bit under their intended bpm.
back in december I made a mistake with the 1st track of a session, but carried on recording to see where it would lead:
felt sure would come back and do another, and this second is that...
The version of Rogbiv is this:

The French track is YELLE - Le Grand Saut and from this classic album:
