My new concept for a theme mix is to take one Jamaican "riddim" (instrumental track) and mix it to beat-less records from various other genres, e.g. folk and psychedelic rock. This time it's a dancehall riddim called "Dragon Fly" (sic!) and other songs dealing with or named after dragonflies. The result is kind of post-dancehall and goes from simple edits and blends to remixes with a completely new beat made of layered samples from the Dragon Fly riddim. While the original vocals on the riddim actually talk about dangerous women (Track 3, 4, 5 and 10), other lyrics associate the dragonfly with escapism and strange encounters with nature. In addition, there are some piano and electronic tracks doing a great job in sonically portraying dragonflies and their habitat.
