Digging: "Mother thought whatever is irreversible, unanswer'd intra sectionalizing, nevertheless"

In the fall of 2019, Fumi Okiji gave a paper at the Unit Structures: The Art of Cecil Taylor Conference titled "Cecil's Nonsensuous Standard." In that presentation, Okiji played an unforgettable musical example. This mix is a response to that example, the example that stands in relation to the "nonsensuous." With the exception of The Inflated Tear, all tracks are partially layered. With the exception of the Boulez, none of them are cut. About the title, "Digging" refers to Amiri Baraka's book Digging and Cecil Taylor's album Garden. "We will go into the fields and Plow," Taylor tells us. "Mother thought whatever is irreversible, unanswer'd intra sectionalizing, nevertheless" is a line out of the poem printed on the cover of Garden. If you get a chance, read the entire poem. It gives us an example of joining the ensemble. -Out From Outside

Hi Rick,
Okiji's example was Cecil Taylor's and Bettie Carter's versions of "What's New" played at the same time. It was riveting.
