Sing Sing, the big house: 'Graduate school for gangsters.' Book number nine was about Al D'Arco. While it's another book co-written by Capeci and with a sensational title and cover, it's an enjoyable and insightful book about his life, the Lu(c)chese family, their racketeering practices and the dealings with other families.
They deliver an interesting and authentic biography about the D'Arco. He wasn't made until he was 50, but eventually became acting boss for a while. It's an enthralling life story. He provides straightforward quotes and provides a lot of details about the rackets, so if you want to know how they 'worked' then this one's a great pick.
The amount of names and in-depth information may not be for everyone, and there are faster reads out there, but I also recommend it for the same reason. I think I'll read it a second time soon.
