RICHARD THOMAS INTERVIEW

Richard Thomas was born in New York City, the son of Barbara and Richard S. Thomas, owners of the New York School of Ballet, and dancers with the New York City Ballet. Richard made his Broadway debut in "Sunrise at Campobello," playing John Roosevelt, son of future president Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

His television career soon followed with his appearance in in "A Doll's House," with Julie Harris and Christopher Plummer, followed by roles in "The Edge of Night" and "As The World Turns." Richard's first major film roles were in the 1969 mothion picture, "Winning," opposite Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, and "Last Summer," with Barbara Hershey.

His national recognition came with his five-year portrayal of "John-Boy Walton," in the popular award-winning series, "The Waltons," for which he won an Emmy.
