May

May is episode 8 in [hello world] mix series I started in October. The mix series explores modern Afrobeat(s), Reggae, Dancehall, RnB, Soul and Hip Hop in Africa, Europe, North America and the Caribbean.

May is a mix of Reggae songs recorded over the past 5 or 6 years in Jamaica. It’s mostly composed of songs by Chronixx and Koffee (back to back), with Protoje and Richie Spice featuring towards the end. The mix starts with a mellow, groovy track, then gradually picks up pace until we find ourselves in the middle of a real Rastaman party while not losing conscience of the message in the music.

May is the birth-month of my sister, Clelia, and me. She is like my younger Gemini twin (even if she’s technically a Taurus) and I love her dearly. And in this mix if I were Chronixx then she’d be Koffee ;)

The cover art shows a picture of myself when I was a boy in Paris (circa 1989), taken by my maternal grandfather, which has been recoloured.
