SLIDE by Guards

Ahead of their performance at this year’s Primavera festival, New York band Guards pay tribute to a style of guitar playing favoured by such greats as George Harrison, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker.

"Slide guitar is my favorite sound in the entire world”, says Richie Follin, the architect of Guards’ sound. “So we made a mix to share some of our favorite slide guitar songs".

Gliding between the country twang of Hank Williams and the warm summer sounds of Santo & Johnny, this mix is a fitting tribute to the unique playing style that conjures distinct moods and memories.

Guards’ debut album, In Guards We Trust, is out now on Partisan Records and you can catch them at Primavera, where they will be playing the Parc del Fòrum on Wednesday 22nd May.
