As being involved in the scene myself I felt doing a playlist of songs known due to being in the scene would help me create a meaningful mix of music. I chose to do drumstep as drum and bass and dubstep are usually mixed together with each other in the scene, as in if you like one, you usually like the other. Also they sound fantastic together to.
I chose BBC station 1xtra at 9pm on a Friday night for my broadcast as it is not quite underground music but in the middle between mainstream. The show would fit as a turnover from daytime to underground midnight shows. Annie Mac was my main influence as although she is not a 1xtra presenter what she does is something new with playing popular music that’s mainstream in the drumstep scene, but also influences with new music. With her influences these underground artists become popular.
1xtra already have touched on the dubstep scene even though they specialise in r’n’b’ and garage with their “Daily Dose of Dubstep” with Mistajam.
