Ultimately music is meant to unify and uplift. Covers of popular songs have allowed certain melodies to circle the globe. Tributes to former greats can be didactic and also spiritual: channeling ancestral rhythyms. A lot of songs or works of art are patchworks, collages of influences and muses. Here we try to join the dots between Indian Disco Jazz & Brazilian Jazz Funk and beyond. Whatever the genre or the year the song was made, there is a golden thread that magically connects some music: a lineage of great Black music which constantly expands & references itself.
