mixed 9-20-02
Lovers of electronic music often get caught up in genre specifying. We get so into one particular sub-genre that we forget that other genres might have something good to offer. I see many people in the house movement speak out against drum 'n bass. But don't forget that drum 'n bass has conjured up many beautiful offerings such as LTJ Bukem and Blu Mar Ten. I have no problem admitting that I was heavily involved in drum n bass for years. But, as in house and techno, I sought the deeper, more ethereal side of the genre. It was always about the atmosphere and emotional content for me. This mix is an example of just how beautiful drum n bass can be. It also displays how it may be used with down tempo and other non-drum n bass genres in a single set. Enjoy. *update* -> DnB and people's perceptions have changed a lot since almost 10 years ago. The new renaissance in DnB is what I sought when I made this mix way back. It's all full circle!
