This music genre was the catalyst for the rave scene or at least symbiotic with the rave scene !? It influenced and helped create much of the UK dance music culture that the UK has enjoyed for the past 30 years !
I began collecting old skool / acid house vinyl in the early 00's. I was curious about the music and there were some great tunes that weren't really being played any more. Over the time I've managed to pick up some great tunes.
Content wise the mix begins with some pretty heavy, chunky acid beats and then lightens up at about 30 mins. Still pretty dancy but a bit more funky and tweeky. The final part of the mix are some big atmospheric tribal stompers ... Big tunes ! I once heard "breakdown" on a rig probably 20 K at a UK tek in wales ... in the morning. Some serious stomping :)
The pic is of a guy who worked at "wildsides" in South Africa, the tune "wildsides" mid way through always reminds me of that place ... really safe people, nice place ! :)
