Nothing Is Real

MITHYA
(Sanskrit): the unreal not false, but not fixed either.
What appears, depending on who's looking.
I found this sound late.
Not late like missed the window. The sound came when I was ready to hear it. When the noise stopped. Some things don't come early. They wait until you can actually receive them.
I play for myself first. Not a disclaimer, it's the whole foundation. If I'm chasing a room, I'm performing. If I'm chasing the sound, I'm somewhere truer than that and from that place, something honest comes through the speakers. If you feel it too, that's not the goal. That's the bonus.
“mithya” means nothing is fixed as one thing. The color you see isn't the color I see, not with the same feeling. The room I'm building with this set is not the room you're standing in. We're each constructing our own version of what's happening in real time, out of the same raw material // the sound, light, bodies moving in the dark. None of it is the one true version. All of it is real enough to move through.
That's freedom.
If nothing is fixed, nothing is owed either. I'm not building toward a peak that has to land a certain way for a certain crowd. I'm building a journey and journeys move through valleys, plateaus, builds, drops, silence, return. Dance music gets reduced to peaks sometimes. I'm interested in the whole arc. The vibe is the architecture; the atmosphere is the proof it's working.
I have no expectations of this. It's accuracy, not modesty. I'm not owed an audience and the audience isn't owed a formula. What I owe the set is honesty ,that I actually went somewhere while building it, instead of performing the idea of going somewhere. The music belongs to various artists but this sound, this complete sound is mine.
If the mix reaches a few, really reaches them, the way a sound reached me late and changed what I was listening for then something passed between us that doesn't need an audience size to be true. If you come back for this sound, it touched you. It might be the only outcome that was ever real to begin with. I find joy and peace in this sound. If you find something close to it, the sound reached you.
So: enjoy the journey. Trust that what you're hearing is one true version among many, mine offered honestly, yours received however it lands for you.
Nothing is real. Everything is happening anyway.
