Relationship Dynamics

Tonights topic comes via a discussion.  Is there a male/ female dynamic in every relationship. Now what I was asked is do same gender reltionships still have this dynamic?
With lesbians and homosexuals is, one party considered to be the more submissive party or the "wife" type? Even in our hetrosexual conterparts have this dynamic. Most men "wear the pants" or "is the king of the throne" . In some cases I found that there are women who are making the rules and taking control .
Side note do this pertain to people of the same sexual preference not gay silly but 2 tops 2bttms or 2 butch's
