This mix started life as a mix my dad made to 8-track of songs from his own LP's as well as LP's he borrowed from my mom's sisters when we moved back to Iowa. Most of the songs on here are from their collection, in fact.
I had an 8-track on my stereo and listened to this mix a lot as a pre-teen, to the point that even to this day, when I hear one of these songs in the wild, I anticipate the following song on this mix. I dubbed the 8-track to cassette and it was in my car in high school and college. I still have this cassette in fact.
So, these are the songs and artists that informed my music tastes during my formative years.
This is a reproduction of that original mix-- I have all of the CDs that made this up today. I tacked some songs at the end that would have been on the original LP's taking it past the original 90 Minutes of the 8-track.
