According to Paul the Apostle, to know Jesus is to embrace the implications of following Jesus. It is only through experiencing "suffering" that one truly knows Jesus. Knowing Jesus doesn't stop at a intellectual level but carries on to knowing him relationally as we follow Him and embrace the cost of being a disciple.
