Sloppy Seconds

A few years ago I would collect wax from Manchester, Preston, online from stores like www.rapandsoulmailorder.co.uk www.suspect-packages.com rootdownrecords (now gone); Astonishing sounds; Pepa records (RIP), import records from the states, www.sandboxautomatic.com , bid last second on vinyl auction on Ebay, that kind of thing. I'd practice cutting, mixing and juggling, inspired by luminaries such as Mr Thing, Prime Cuts, DJ Woody, Madcut, Monk-A, & Ritchie Ruftone. I'd record my mixtapes on TDK D90/FE90 tapes, copy them, and post them to people. Now and then, I'd find out people were digging them.

Then, in January 2005, something radical happened. I recorded a mix digitally, on minidisc (if I remember correctly), and uploaded it for anyone who wanted to download.

Today, I found that mix, recorded on 2 Vestax PDX 2000's and a Vestax 07 Pro mixer in the back of a 2 bedroom terrace in Broadgate, Preston.
