Filipinos have been in the US since their arrival in October of 1587. In 2009, Congress formally recognized October as Filipino History Month. It is celebrated in places with a large concentration of people with Filipino heritage, such as my home state of California. This mix celebrates this occasion with Filipino and Filipino-American
