During my weekly walks I like to explore dead wood areas. Where the forest has died, new habitats are created for countless species of fungi, insects, and other animals. Almost invisible to us humans, the dead forest lives on and quietly prepares for its rebirth. On my walks I record special, natural soundscapes. In my sound lab, I investigate the sounds of nature, giving my imagination the space to unfold. As a child, I often imagined what it would be like to be very small, even to no longer be a human being, but an insect. It was particularly interesting to think about the perception of time - the smaller the organism, the slower the events of life take place.
In the lab, I imagined being a beetle eating dead wood and slowed down my sound recordings by 70% of their speed. In the process, I discovered a completely new language of nature. It sounds strange and psychedelic. This piece was created for a Wood-speaker-sculpture (see profile pic).
