It’s a sad fact that so many of these musicians and ensembles remain chronically underrated. Please explore the incredible work of saxophonist Rudolph Johnson in particular (playing on Habiba and Higher Ground in this mix). Johnson’s playing certainly rivals that of Pharoah Sanders.
