I've been listening to a lot of older music lately. This lead me to dig up some old ambient tunes, which lead to this mix.
Listening to Michael Brook's "Hybrid" from 1985 brought back memories of how absolutely wonderful that album is. So I grabbed other ambient recordings from around the same time period and the result is the new mix, "always returning". I stole the title from the Eno tune which finishes the mix. It's appropriate because this is music that I will return to often.
Most of the recordings are from the 1980's, with two fo them from '77 & '78. There's a fair amount of Eno in here, whether it's his own tracks or his production. I guess that appropriate because in the '80's, Eno was an ambient god.
I hope you enjoy this quick bit of time traveling.

I loved the little Peter Gabriel snippet. While I have heard it before, I haven't heard it separated out. It really stands out with it's quiet power and a reminder that he was already working with ambient music even back then. Thanks for including it!
Wow, this is a really old mix. I had to dig up the tracklist to see what PG tune you were talking about. It was a good reminder of just how great his Birdy soundtrack is. Your post also reminded me that I should post tracklists for a bunch of these older mixes. Cheers!
Very Cool!!!

Seminal era: Hybrid, On Land, Apollo, Possible Musics, The Pearl etc, such great collaborations.
It was yr mention of Michael Brook that encouraged me to post the deep ambient mix http://www.mixcloud.com/beatconscious/space-2010-harmonic-assembly/ which also uses tracks from Hybrid, and which I hope you'll enjoy as much as I have enjoyed yours ... thanks!
