This collection isn't necessarily a 'best of 2015,' it's just some of my favorite jazz tunes from the past year.
It begins with one of my favorite albums of the year in any genre - The Thompson fields by The Maria Schneider Orchestra. The title track is remarkable.
Cheers!

I feel bad for musicians who are having such a hard time surviving the pandemic on streaming royalties. No touring no merch, nothing. But i don't think people are going back to physical recordings, other than purists and perhaps vinyl collectors. So i have a family Spotify subscription, Amazon Prime, netflix, disney +, and a full Bell Aliant cable subscription that has dozens of musical stations. I only hope that some of my subscriptions percolate down to the artists. It must also be a nightmare for you as well, in your curation- creations
I have similar subscriptions and setups as well. Streamers like Mixcloud are trying to do right by artists by having agreements with labels and trying to get royalties to the artists. But I wonder about many of the ambient artists that are on small, independent labels - will the ever see any money from plays on Mixcloud? It's a tough situation for all involved.
Yes i noticed that her track wasn't there, but because you recommended her music i went looking gor all i could find on Spotify which, oddly wasn't much, considering she is a multiple grammy winner.
She is very much anti-streaming and is pretty hard line about licensing. Most of ECM is now on Spotify but not her stuff. Which is also why Mixcloud can't play any of her music. Still, worth the effort if you can find it for sale.

Thanks for listening! Unfortunately my tracklist is is a bit off. Mixcloud had to remove the first track due to copyright issues. So it starts with the Jaga Jazzist track and ends with the Ben Monder cut. The Maria Schneider orchestra album is definitely worth seeking out though.
Magnifique - Le mix de HIdden Orchestra à Chris Potter - hohoho -
