Music played at or inspired by the "Ruta Destroy", a Valencian subcultural movement in the late 80's/early 90's taking place in clubs such as Spook Factory, Espiral or NOD, and where a plethora of musical genres and bands were being played to an audience composed mostly of working class youths.
The music played there was usually referred to as "the Valencian sound" or "bakalao" (Spanish for "cod"), a slang term for import club music: from EBM to Belgian New Beat through post-punk, goth, industrial, synth-pop, rave, indie, techno and house. This mixtape focuses mostly on the electronic side of the Ruta.
The audio from the intro comes from a talk by Kevin Doogan, a social scientist studying labour market change: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjdgFoXGVxk
