July, 2000: Looking back on this one after 12 years, out of all those "first generation mixes", this is the one that can always be called on as a favorite. It's one of those eternal "mixed tapes" that you can always go back to. Funny also, to think back to when I made it. I was so new as a DJ, still so wet behind the ears. This is only the second mix that I ever made, behind grasshopper. Back in the basement of the hizouse, back when I really needed to practice for hours to get it right, when laying one track in halftime on the next. OK, shit, I still need to practice for that! But this was back when it was all so new that I would dedicate the hours to getting it right. Great for snowboarding. Most people give up on this mix too early because it starts out so slow & dubby, but that's what it is. And it that's what it always will be. Happy Birthday Gavin! Love you bro!
