Back in Dec 2014 I was meant to hand in a mix for i-D Online's "Music To..." series. Really wanted to create something special, a multilayered but turntable based mix that i'd be proud of. Proved to be a struggle and in the end as time was running out, I stayed up all night trying to get it done in time for the deadline, but ended up sending them an email at 7am the day it was meant to go live to tell them that I, er.. couldn't do it.
I listened to this a lot after failing to finish it. Sometimes I love it, other times I can't stand it. But here we are just over 5 years later, and as disappointed as I am in myself for not finishing it for i-D, there's something I really love about it.
Since this failed mix, i've not done any multi layered mixes, everything is just 2 turntables and straight out the mixer (obviously I redo the bits i mess up), but at some point, I think i'm going to try again.
