Snowfall

"Ouch!" exclaimed Eric. He dug snow out of his hood. "No fair! We said not above the shoulders!"

"It was an accident," said Anton, aiming another snowball at his brother.

Eric ducked. "Stop! Snow is sliding down my back!"

Yet another snowball sailed toward Eric in response, triggering his escape to the house. As he turned the doorknob, a hunk of snow splattered against the doorframe. He stepped inside and pried off his boots with his snow-caked mittens.

Soon, Anton arrived, saying, "That was fun!" Without a word, Eric headed upstairs to change his clothes.

When the boys joined their parents for spaghetti, Anton asked Eric, "Are you still mad?" Eric twirled his noodles. "Admit it," said Anton. "You had fun." Eric ate his spaghetti in silence.

The next morning, Mom announced, "You have a snow day. There was a storm overnight."

Squealing with delight, the boys raced to the kitchen window to see the backyard glistening in a thick layer of white.
