Found Treasure
"This ground sure is stony, thought Lincoln, bending over to pick up a stone he had uncovered while hoeing the garden. "Grandpa," he called after wiping dirt from the stone. "Look what I found." Lincoln handed the stone to his grandfather. "I never saw a stone this shape. Do you think it might be an arrowhead?"
"I don't know," said Grandpa, studying the pointed stone. "This does look a lot like an arrowhead, doesn't it? It would be very unusual to find one these days, but we should show it to someone who knows more about them."
"Cool! We talked about arrowheads in history class," said Lincoln. "Native Americans used them to hunt game."
"Yes," said Grandpa, "and that was many years ago. Just think, if this is an arrowhead, it was hidden in the ground for a long time--possibly hundreds of years." He handed the stone back to Lincoln.
"I like it," said Lincoln as he put it into his pocket. "I'll keep it even if it isn't an arrowhead. And I'll keep digging. Maybe I'll find more treasure
